"KNOW THYSELF TO KNOW THY CREATOR" was the theme of the Annual science
fair organized by the upper primary section of Al-Madrasa
Tus-Saifiya-Tul-Burhaniya, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
The theme is an adaptation from Qasida Mubarak of Syedna Taher Seifuddin
Saheb (R.A.) - "Al Aqlo Fil Insaane Aalal Jawhari".
Science fair was held on Sunday, 25th July, 2004 (8th Jamadil Ukhra) in
the multi-purpose hall of Annadil Burhani. A total of 39 exhibits by
Madrassa pupils from grade four to seven were on display. Projects were
selected from four scientific disciplines namely - environment, energy,
physiology and scientific methods.
The day's proceedings started with Tilawate Quran-e-Majid and recitation
of Qasida Mubarak by secondary school students. The head Masool, Sheikh
Yunusbhai Vajihee, in his opening remarks highly praised Janab Aamil Saheb,
Sheikh Taiyebali Sheikh Hamzabhai Patanwalla F.J., N.D.I., for his tireless
guidance and efforts to ensure that the programme resulted into a great
success. He further expressed his gratitude to the students and their
parents for their valuable co-operation.
The science exhibition was preceded by a multi media (power point)
presentation on "The Miracles in the creation of Man", given by two pupils
from the secondary section of Al-Madrassa.
This unique presentation delved into the wealth of scientific knowledge in
Quran-e-Majid regarding "Creation of Man" available 1400 years before
modern medical discoveries.
A panel of three judges led by Mr. William Transburg, an American with 18
years experience in teaching science, Bhai Burhan Karimjee, Science teacher
with Shaban Robert Secondary school and Murakeeb Mulla Abdeli with MSB
selected the best two exhibits from each group. At 2 pm after long five
hours, the jury announced its decision amid cheers from the Mumineen who had
turned up in large number. Mr. Williams highly commended on the performance
and efforts of the students cum organizers.
The science fair served to promote and assist scientific learning from an
Islamic standpoint in accordance to Irshadat Mubarak of Aqa Moula (TUS).
"Like the dew, so minute in the face of rain, even a little knowledge
properly imbibed and assimilated, does a great deal of good" - Syedna
Mohamed Burhanuddin (TUS).
May Allah grant our Aqa Moula (TUS) a long and healthy life - Ameen
